trencher chain

To fully understand trencher sizes, you have to look at its various kinds and classifications. This kind of equipment can be found at construction sites and is utilized for various purposes, depending on what it can do. There are certain trencher sizes that are used to dig trenches, lay pipes, cables and there are the types that are used for drainage.

Trencher sizes vary depending on the model of the equipment, the design and its purpose. It can range from the walk-behind kinds to the models that can be attached to a tractor, heavy

tracked materials and skid loader.

Different Types

Trencher sizes depend on the width

and depth that will be required for the project where the equipment is going to be used. All the types and trencher sizes are quite big and heavy, that is why the equipment must only be used by an expert and must be handled with extra caution and care. To get some ideas about trencher sizes, here are the common types of trenchers and how these are typically used.

Chain Trencher

This looks like a giant chainsaw. This heavy equipment is useful in cutting very hard ground that cannot be penetrated through the bucket kind of excavator. This is able to cut through a digging chain that surrounds a circular metal frame or boom when the equipment is being driven. The person who is handling this can adjust the boom according to the right angle that must be applied to attain the intended cut and depth.

Wheel Trenchers

These trenchers are mounted on rubber tires or on the tracks to help with the excavation process. These can finish the job faster and these are also cheaper to operate than the chain

trencher.

Portable Trencher

This type helps in installing landscape

edging and in creating irrigation lines. This type weighs light, with an average weight of 200 pounds. This factor makes it very easy to maneuver. This is also utilized in installing utility connections, like coaxial cables.

Rockwheel

This kind has a toothed metal wheel that is a more effective version of a giant circular saw. This can cut with more impact than the chain trencher. This can also cut through a stiff and solid stone. Its teeth can be removed and replaced, especially if it is being used heavily.

There are many reasons that trenchers are used in construction, specifically for installing drainage

systems, laying pipes or cables, or many other uses. They come in different sizes and shapes, and depending on the depth of the trench, the width of the trench, and the solidity of the surface to be cut, the trenchers are designed to fulfill the trenching requirements. There are several models of Digga Trenchers, which include the following:

  • Hydrive Trenchers – These Digga

Trenchers are primarily used for excavators and backhoes and they have a unique drive system which provides a higher level of productivity due to the sustained horse power necessary for heavy-duty trenching applications. There are twin spoil augers that are helpful to shove the crumbled soil to the banks of the trench; being designed to ensure a maximum effectiveness and clean trenches. This trencher is designed with an Eaton motor and when combined with the Digga gearbox guarantees durability, reliability, and maximized performance. There are three options that come with the Hydrive Digga Trencher:

o Frozen and icy terrain

o Asphalt

o Rock-packed terrain

o Concrete

o Standard loose or moderately packed soil

The frame on this trencher also has

the ability to shift to allow trenching in closer proximity to standing

structures. Its primary use is for laying pipe for irrigation systems, road

repairs, general construction, and laying conduit for underground gas, power,

or communications.

  • BigFoot Trenchers – This Digga

Trencher is more compact, but is still utilized with an Eaton Hydraulic engine

and the Digga drive. It provides consistency in trenching depth, efficient

removal of the soil and fine crumbs, while providing minimized ground

disturbance to surrounding areas. There are three optional chains available

depending on the conditions of the terrain.

This model is capable of excavating

up to 3.5 tons and is equipped with skid steer loaders for the smaller model,

and for the larger model it can excavate up to eight tons with the larger skid

steer loaders, as well as for telehandlers and backhoes.

There are three chain options that

are available for both the Hydrive and BigFoot Trenchers:

  • Earth – Recommended for softer

clean ground that is free of tree roots and floaters

  • Combo – Recommended for harder terrain that includes roots, rockier grounds,

and soft shale

  • Diggatac – Recommended for icy or frozen terrain, asphalt, and hard shale.

These Digga trenchers are designed to reduce the vibration levels found in many types of trenchers, and the life

of the teeth on this trencher is longer than most because of the design and materials used to support durability and reliability.

When trenching needs arise, whether large or small, soft or hard terrain conditions, the Digga trenchers have a model that meets the needs of the trenching requirements. The Digga trenchers are available in a variety of sizes.
